Please reconsider this. Is there not any other parking areas for "Getting to the grid". It is hard enough to schedule practice times during the week much less for games. Our kids already have enough on them with after school homework. Are we suppose to make our kids give up the love of sports for their academic record, because that is what will happen.

Find a new place for parking!
This is a great park for everyone to enjoy and use. Why waste the fields with concrete and cars when our kids can enjoy it more with their friends and family enjoying sports.
The college already takes over this place and has enough buildings, apartments and restaurants that cater to these students. There are others in this community as well. Take a break from building and enjoy a game from our children that will be the future!

This is crazy!! What message are we sending to our kids that the sport that they love and have work so hard for is not worth anything, but a parking lot to a stadium only used for one season!!! This should be reconsidered. This town should support all sports! As much all we push for kids to get out and move, we we will fail them by taking out one of the most beautiful parks in this town! My son loves soccer! It has taught him how to be a part of something great! To be a team player and a leader! Don't take away what he works so hard for!

I would prefer my children to learn how to balance homework (important learning and development ) and sports during the week to help balance sitting in a chair all day at school. If they are playing games during the week... when do they practice? Where do they practice? It is hard enough already. What about the kids playing multiple sports? Tee ball games already take up many weeknights. Multiple sport children would be devastated. We all love football, but not at the expense of our children's youth. Pretty sure our "veteran's" would approve this message...

Amen. What about quality of life? The city of college station has Been and will continue to phase out parks and rec. the reason many of us live here. I wish we could change thus but that will take a change in council and parks and rec director/pawn of council

Please reconsider this, football parking over youth playing outside when all we hear in the media is talk about childhood obesity? We pay for our children to play soccer, they love playing soccer, find somewhere else to park cars....

WHY must everything in this city be about Texas A&M? There are other citizens who do not participate in the things at the University. We ALL pay taxes and should NOT have things taken away from us because of the city's greed and Texas A&M. Please reconsider your plan and let the youth of College Staion continue with their traditions.

Riverside Campus has a huge already concreted area...the old flight line. Many many cars can be parked here.

Jorge has an excellent idea. I don't have kids playing soccer, but I think it is unreasonable to disturb the schedules of local citizens, especially the kids.

This wont jusy effect children. Adult sports are during the week days all year round. Children and adults pay to play soccer, softball and kickball at the veteran park. I'm sure the money the city may loose for this is pocket change to the city..... sound like it's only about the money. I'm sure with all the money A&M makes, they can afford to build a parking garage, and get it back by charging to park.

So sad.

While I have no 1st hand stake in this, (Aggie football or local Soccer), as a taxpaying citizen of College Station, I am totally against this idea to pander yet again to the football game weekend folks. I support the financial influx that they bring, but this is a public park and should NOT be "reserved" for exclusive use of non College Station citizens. This park is for the children and families of our community. Not EVERYTHING in College Station must cower to or center around A&M athletics.

Lots of other options. Why no rent the chilifest location in Snook? World Speedway at least for the next year or two. Expo center? Blinn College parking lots? Four high school parking lots? Many large church parking lots?

What about the TEEX riverside campus. PLENTY OF USEFUL SPACE OVER IN THAT AREA.

This is preposterous that for 7 Saturdays in the Fall, Veterans Park will be closed to hundreds of families just so it can be used as a PARKING LOT for football games!!

What a NON-FAMILY decision!

Use the Target parking lot in Bryan -- the giant spare empty one next to Dollar Tree -- that will not involve depriving community families to exercise and recreate!!

This is so outlandish I am finding it hard to believe. Whose irrational idea was this??

Please support the youth and families that call College Station home. TAMU can find a different location.

Really? TAMU, really?? You just lost a lot of respect. If the football team has gotten to the point of taking up youth athletics and community activities space, I expect a championship in 2016. Otherwise, I apologize and cant believe it, but College Station is hereby governed by a bunch of greed. The root of all evil. Get them out of those seats before they scar that university.

Why not the airport. One active runway in use. Two unused runways. They are over a mile long and paved. Perfect parking lot for the grid!

Not surprised at all our city council has not supported the parks and rec deparent for over 6 years or more with the hiring of a director to phase out many of the programs for our citizens and their children. Ask anyone who has worked for the city of college station. The council is focused more on money rather than quality of life . Good luck
