As we gear up for another season the College Station Soccer Club Board has met to discuss changes for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 seasons. These changes are outlined below:
Costs: As the club grows, the costs associated with Registration have been changed to reflect the costs incurred by the club. These costs include registration with BVYSA and STYSA, uniforms, equipment (balls, cones, goals, nets, etc), fields for practices and games, referees, medals for U5-U8 and tournament medals, league insurance, etc. For this reason, the costs for the following season will be:
Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 (prepaid) Registration = $125.00
Fall 2019 Registration only = $100.00
Spring 2020 Registration only = $100.00
Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 (renewed after Fall season ends) Registration = $100.00(Fall) + $40.00(Spring) = $140.00
In other words: if you plan on registering for both the Fall and the Spring it is better to pay for both ahead of time.
U17 Team Assignment: The way U17 teams will be assigned has been changed to increase fairness in regards to Co-ed play. Player and coach requests will still be respected (as possible), however girls will be assigned to teams first to make sure Co-ed #s are even. Then boys will be added (again player and coach requests will be honored as possible) until teams reach the maximum number of players.
Mercy Rule: A mercy rule has been added to facilitate good sportsmanship in older divisions (U10-U17). Anytime the goal differential reaches 7 goals (i.e. 7-0, 8-1, 9-2, etc.) the game shall be called, teams will be mixed up with pinneys and the rest of game time will be played as a scrimmage with mixed teams.
Goal Kicks: The goal kick rule has changed for U7-U17. The goal kick does NOT have to leave the penalty box to be considered in play. Once the ball is touched it is considered in play. All players (except the one taking the goal kick) must be outside of the penalty box prior to the kick.
Coaches: A maximum of 2 coaches per team will be allowed on the sideline for games. All coaches must have their KidsSafe badge at every game. This is to limit the amount of coaching confusion for players and parents and to more easily comply with KidsSafe badge rules.
Additional rule/policy changes may be made and will be announced prior to the start of the season. If you have any questions/concerns regarding rule/policy changes please contact one of the members of the Executive Board.
